As most of you know 9 times of 10 a crafty or artistic person is also greatin the kitchen. My mom taught me some great "Stone Cooking" as welike to call it. "Stone Cooking" is basically using what you have onhand to make something. Come to think of it, a lot of my crafting is"Stone Crafts".
My first tutorial is for Mini Danishes. First off, the ingredients:
You will need sugar, vanilla (or other favorite extract that goes well withcream cheese), cream cheese, pre-made crescent roll dough, a tea spoon, a fork,a bowl, cookie sheets, fruit preserves (I used raspberry), and aluminum foil.Preheat your oven to the temperature indicated on the crescent dough package.
Open the dough and lay out the triangles on an aluminum foil covered cookiesheet. (The filling will ooze all over the place, so I always use aluminum foil to protect my baking sheets.) This will give the dough time to reach a more pliable temperature.
Cut the block of cream cheese in half, or use a small container full. To this add about a tablespoon of extract and an eighth of a cup of sugar. Mash it together well with the fork.
Spoon out the cheese mixture or preserves, in small dollops, on to the large part of the triangles...
...then fold the dough around the filling. I like to fold the large point over the middle, pull up the sides, and tuck the point under.
Bake until the dough turns a light golden brown on theoutside.
